Dunn's Boat Service invites you to experience, first hand, the unique beauty and history of Big Moose Lake.
On July 11, 1906, this peaceful wilderness lake became the scene of the famous murder in the Adirondacks that inspired Theodore Dreiser's novel, An American Tragedy, the movie "A Place In The Sun" starring Montgomery Clift, Elizabeth Taylor and Shelley Winters, as well as the most recent rendition by the Metropolitan Opera, "An American Tragedy," composed by Tobias Picker. Revisit the Adirondack Tragedy and Big Moose history through a narrated tour aboard our meticulously restored 1955 Chris Craft appropriately named "Grace." Settle down in your seat and get lost in the adventure, intrigue and scenery around you. Your tour begins with a greeting from your captain, your personal guide on this voyage back in time. During the excursion, the captain will discuss the tragic romance between Chester Gillette and Grace Brown, while also revealing interesting highlights about Big Moose Lake and its unique camps, scenery and history.
